About Auditory Pathways

Developing professionals. Building local Auditory-Verbal expertise.

Auditory Pathways brings together four highly experienced Auditory-Verbal (AV) practitioners, trainers and mentors from the UK, Europe, South Africa and the Americas. Together, we combine expertise in Auditory-Verbal Therapy (AVT), clinical practice, professional learning, mentoring and service development.

Our training programmes connect evidence with real-world practice. They are designed to help professionals build knowledge, strengthen clinical reasoning and apply AV principles thougtfully and effectively with children who are deaf or hard of hearing and their families.

Our purpose is to make informed choice meaningful by strengthening the workforce and ensuring that families who choose Auditory-Verbal Therapy can access skilled professionals within their own communities.

Auditory-Verbal expertise embedded within local services, so that families who choose this approach can access skilled evidence-informed support close to home.

Our Mission

Auditory Pathways develops professional capability in Auditory-Verbal practice through connected, evidence-informed training, mentoring, clinical supervision and assessment.

We support practitioners to translate knowledge into effective clinical practice, strengthen clinical reasoning and build expertise that can be sustained within local services.

Why Auditory Pathways Exists

Access to specialist Auditory-Verbal Therapy remains uneven. Many professionals want to develop their knowledge and practical skills but face barriers including limited local training, supervision and opportunities for supported clinical development.

Auditory Pathways exists to help close this gap. Our progressive pathways connect professional learning with practical application, observation, mentoring, supervision and assessment. This supports practitioners to develop from foundational knowledge towards increasingly advanced Auditory-Verbal practice, while strengthening local capability and the services available to children and families.

Our Approach and Values

Informed Choice

Families should receive balanced, accessible information and be supported to make decisions that reflect their child’s needs and their own priorities.

Evidence-informed practice

Our training draws on current evidence, established professional frameworks and experienced clinical practice.

Learning connected to practice

Professional knowledge is most valuable when it can be applied. Our pathways combine learning with reflection, observation, mentoring and supported clinical development.

High Standards

We promote clear expectations, thoughtful assessment and ongoing professional development to support safe, effective and high-quality practice.

Local expertise

Sustainable services depend on skilled professionals within children’s own communities. We focus on building capability and expertise that remain within local teams and services.

We value respectful collaboration with families, professionals, services, educational settings, universities and organisations that share our commitment to better outcomes for children with hearing loss.
