Trainer, Mentoring & Clinical Supervision Development Pathway Overview

Developing expert practitioners who strengthen practice, people and services

The Trainer and Mentoring Pathway is designed to develop expert practitioners who strenghten practice, people and services. It supports practitioners to develop the skills needed to strengthen the practice of others through training, mentoring, clinical supervision, reflective practice and professional development. The pathway also recognises the wider role that experienced practitioners can play in building local capability: supporting quality improvement, strengthening teams, developing services and helping to sustain high-quality listening and spoken language practice within their own organisations and communities.

Who is the pathway for

This pathway is for experienced practitioners who are already working within hearing, listening and spoken language services and who are taking on, or preparing for, greater responsibility for the development of others and successfully completed the Advanced course. It may be particularly relevant for practitioners who:

  • supervise or mentor colleagues;
  • deliver professional education or training;
  • support reflective clinical practice;
  • contribute to service development or quality improvement;
  • want to strengthen local expertise and workforce capability.
